Mount Timpanogos Trail, Utah

I hiked part of the Mount Timpanogos trail in Utah. I began near the Aspen Grove, (one of two possible starting places). The trailhead is off Utah route 92 about 5 miles north of the Sundance Resort (about 12 miles from Orem Utah and within an hour of Salt Lake City). I think the trail is in American Fork Canyon at Timpooneke (but I am not sure, I am writing this a bit after I did the hike).

The trail is in the area of Mount Timpanogos Wilderness, Wasatch Mountain State Park and Uinta National Forest. This was the second day of my trip and still was not organized. I got a late start and got turned around on the roads. I wanted to try and make the Timpanogos cave that afternoon. So I only hiked in a few miles but it was a wonderful hike. It turns out I should have continued, though I got to the cave before closing time, I did not get to the cave before the last tickets could be purchased.

I found this hike in a great book: 100 Hikes in Utah. This is hike number 23 in that book. I also used 50 Best Short Hikes in Utah's National Parks, both were excellent.
