The Artist Point, Mount Baker Ski Area has great views. The road was closed from the visitors center on but the views were great. And I walked up to Artist Point. I think it might have been even better this way.
The main guide book I used for finding hikes in the North Cascades was Don't Waste Your Time in the North Cascades - which was good.
