I visited Paris, France for 4 days in September 1998. I went to the Louvre several times during that stay. Several photos from the museum are shown below. The photo at the left shows the courtyard (taken from the second floor of the museum).
The "Mona Lisa room" in the Louvre. The Mona Lisa is in the far right side of the photo behind glass and a crowd of people. It would be nice to have a better chance to view the painting but realistically I don't know what can be done - many people want to see certain items and you have large crowds.

Detail from of photo on the left. The Mona Lisa, by Leanardo Da Vinci, is great but the presentation leaves quite a bit to be desired. I actual found it more interesting to watch the people in the room.

View of the Louvre courtyard. Through the Pyramid (designed by I.E. Pei as a new entrance for the museum, completed in the 1990), if you look closely, you can see people on the inside. They are walking down to the center of activity in the museum. Photo by John Hunter, Sep 1998, Musée du Louvre, Paris, France.
