Main Room The Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress is the most opulant Government Building in Washington DC. Completed in 1897 the Library serves not only the Congress but the public. Books make up only 35% of their collection which includes: maps, movies, musical recording, photographs and much more.

Thomas Jefferson was a great supporter of the library as President and when the British burned the Library of Congress Jefferson sold his collection to renew the rebuilding process. Library of Congress history from their web site.
