Bull Run Trail - Nov 2003
At the outset the trail was wet and quite muddy. There had been storms recently and it seemed the water had only recently drained mostly away. Obviously several patches were often wet and had wooden bridges and planks to walk on. But even getting to those required some fancy footwork to avoid more than a smattering of mud on your shoes.I found the hike in 60 Hikes within 60 miles of Washington DC, which is a great book. The first 2 miles provided evidence of being overrun with fast moving water (my guess is the entire path and most of what could be seen from the path had been at least a foot under water and as much as 3 feet under in places.
