Six Thinking Hats
Curious Cat Management Improvement Library - Dictionary
Six Thinking Hats - technique developed by Edward de Bono to encourage creative thinking. Each "hat" represents a conceptual area and by mentally wearing each of these "hats" a person (or a group) can explore the various ways of examining an issue.
The intent is to reach the most effective ideas by guiding the thinking process; making sure each facet of thinking is taken into account in reaching a conclusion.
- "White Hat" - facts
- "Red Hat" - intuition
- "Black Hat" - judgement, potential bad results, what could go wrong
- "Yellow Hat" - potential good results
- "Green Hat" - new ideas, creativity, innovation
- "Blue Hat" - coordination, facilitation, the manager of the thinking process
