Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, 2005. Hugely popular book that offers some good thoughts on applying economic thinking to the world we live in.
RecommendedThe Roaring Nineties by Joseph Sticklike (Nobel Prize Winner), 2003. An interesting look at the junction of politics and economics. Joseph Stiglitz chaired the Council of Economic during the Clinton administration and in the book he does not attempt to deny his political leanings. George Soros: "This is a seminal work that must be read by anyone who cares about the future course of the world economies."
Page 309: "In the nineties, norms and ethics changed. What is considered acceptable is affected by what others do, what they find acceptable... In America in the nineties, there were no bounds; everything became acceptable." (re:" Enron, Arthur Anderson, Citibank, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, WorldCom, Disney, Bank of America, NYSE, etc.)
